I see a lot of malicious posts going around saying Even being bipolar and depressed was the reason he distanced himself from the balloon squad and I just want to say, ???
Okay guys, first of all:1) No one can blame anyone for thinking that Mikael (+ the squad) might have been homophobic because that’s what we were supposed to think, what with not knowing yet that Isak had started the fight and not Elias, and Yousef telling Sana that Mikael reacted badly to Even trying to kiss him bc he is very religious. Good for you if you didn’t, though.
2) We know that Even had a pretty bad manic episode while he was at Bakka and we also know that he crashes very badly after one of them. He tried to distance himself from Isak, too, if you’ll remember.
3) It is unfair to blame someone’s depression for all of their actions. Maybe some of you don’t know this, but when depressed, it’s hard to function properly. It’s hard to remind yourself to eat, it’s hard to do your chores, it’s hard to act “normal”. Hell, most of the time it’s hard to even get up in the mornings or take a shower or even change your clothes. You barely function. You push people away because you think they are better off without you.
And this is what Even did. He was having a manic episode, kissed his best friend who, it seems, reacted in a way that Even, in his state of mind, interpreted as disgusted or hateful and then, in his period of depression, pushed away his friends out of worry and fear.
Don’t make fun, belittle or blame mental illness. It’s not cool.So if you want to make a point or remind us that you knew from the start that there was more to this story and/or you knew the balloon squad was cool, please do it without resorting to being mean and hurtful about depression. Thank you.

The part of the fandom that antagonised the BS should feel ashamed imo. they should have known better. but that’s just my opinion.
hathsinners said: quicker than I can think, and spent weeks spreading trash comments about them (with sometimes pretty islamophobic undertones)?? I mean, it is exactly what happens in real life. POC/muslims are automatically blamed when something bad happens, and SKAM nailed that. Most of the fandom’s reactions illustrated that. So know, I don’t think we were supposed to think the BS had been homophobic, and in fiction as in reality, nobody should jump to conclusions about things like tht because its harmful(2/2)
hathsinners said: most of what you said is true (and before I get jumped on, my mom is bipolar and I’ve got anxiety so I know about mental illnesses ok, not dissmissing what was said about that), but how were we “supposed” to believe the BS might have been homophobic? facts were presented to us, and instead of jumping to conclusion we were supposed to reflect on them. the whole theme of the season is “don’t let me be misunderstood”, yet dozen of dozen jumped into “the BS squad are homophobes” (½)
